A plethora of riders have done this before so give me zero credit for this modification. In fact, a member of a forum I’m part of posted something very similar just a few days ago and that post inspired me to do this. A few years ago I purchased 3 MAX PELI style cases and they were and are brilliant. I’ve owned a few actual PELI cases and these MAX casesĀ are just as good at […]

TRYING TO ELIMINATE YAMAHA TENERE 700 BRAKE DISC RUST – THIS MIGHT WORK
I’ve not seen this in the previous 7 months of ownership but suddenly my T700 brake discs are beginning to suffer from rust. They are rarely subjected to wet riding but occasionally we’ll head out in the rain. I do live about 100 metres from the sea and that could contribute to the problem but this surface rust has only now appeared, just as we head into the dry(er) season. Go figure. Either way I’m […]
Read MoreVIDEO CONTENT – “COOL COVERS” REVIEW – THESE ARE BETTER THAN I EXPECTED!
OK, I admit, I was very sceptical to these Cool Covers when someone told me he’d put them on his T700 oak plank seat and found the seat to now be rather comfortable. I didn’t take his advice and instead made a modified Sheepie. The Grenadier Butt Guard, as I named it, was (and is) very good, helped a lot and I was quite happy with it. Roll forward a few months and I needed […]
Read MoreMUC-OFF HELMET VISOR AND GOOGLE CLEANER – A GOOD SUMMER INVESTMENT!
I bought a little bottle of this Muc-Off Visor, Lens and Goggle Cleaner a few weeks ago whilst visiting my local Yamaha dealer. I wasn’t expecting much but it’s actually brilliant! I had a few splatted bugs bakes onto my MX-9 visor and they were right in my points of vision so as I was heading off for an extended ride after leaving the dealer I decided they needed to go. I keep a microfibre […]
Read MoreUPCOMING REVIEWS – CHINMOUNTS GOPRO MOUNT + LENSKINS GOPRO ND FILTER
I have a few videos I’d like to get done soon and some of them, I think, are going to be better served with a helmet mount rather than my usual crash bar mount. Doing some research, there are a plethora of options but very few that I thought would work well with my Bell MX-9 MIPS helmet. I then stumbled across a Canadian company known as “Chin Mounts”.. Hmm.. sounds the part, eh? Amazingly, […]

My final birthday gift to celebrate my own awesomeness (I really am kidding here..) was a copy of the latest Adventure Biker Rider magazine. First one I’ve purchased but after quickly flicking through it I’m pleasantly surprised. I shall enjoy browsing this at bedtime tomorrow whilst trying to block out my wife’s telephone call to her best friend. š SUBSCRIBE TO THE OVERLAND RIDER BLOG Please enter your email address to subscribe to this blog […]
Read MoreA LITTLE BIRTHDAY PRESENT TO MYSELF – SMALL DETAILS KEEP ME HAPPY!
I’m a detail person and small intricacies can give me great joy! So as my birthday approached I spotted these custom key rings on eBay and couldn’t resist celebrating myself with one. It arrived today in the nick of time and it’s brilliant! Nice leather spine with a quality 70s retro metal custom tag. I saw a post somewhere from another rider who’d ordered one of these but with different text. I absolutely love it […]
Read More55 PRO SPEEDOMETER APP – ONE OF THE BEST APPS I’VE PURCHASED FOR BIKE + CAR
There are some products I purchase (they usually cost very little) and after I use them for a while I pat myself on the back and croon about that being the best few pounds/bucks/rupees I’ve ever spent. This app is one of them! I purchased it probably 7 or 8 years ago and I’ve used it constantly since. The developer updates it with new features and improvements every few months and whilst the free version […]
Read MoreRALLY RAID YAMAHA TENERE 700 SEAT QUICK RELEASE KIT WITH A SMALL MODIFICATION
Whitey66’sĀ (from tenere700.net) T700 quick release seat kitĀ (now sold by Rally Raid)Ā is a useful mod and saves fiddling around with a hex tool to get your main rider seat released. The only thing that bugged me was the two cotter pins (R clips) used to keep the two posts secure. They’re a pain to put on and a pain to take off and the small zip ties were annoying, too. I decided I could no longer […]
